In 1999, five young musicians from the Palatinate met to form the brass quintet BRASSerie.
Lively concert tours developed in the region, which gradually spread to the whole of Germany. BRASSerie played at the Sauerland Herbst Brass Festival, the Hambach Music Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Braunschweig Classix Festival and the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Festival, among others. The ensemble was also able to perform as soloists in concerts by Hidas and Rauber with the symphony orchestra of the Technical University of Kaiserslautern and the JugendBlasOrchester Rheinland-Pfalz. The quintet also attracted international attention. In addition to concerts in other European countries, a two-week tour through China in 2007 was an absolute highlight for the quintet. BRASSerie impressed audiences in Beijing and Shanghai, among others.
The BRAS series took part in several international competitions with great success. Particularly worth mentioning is the first prize in the “International Veltins Competition”.
Their artistic career was shaped by their collaboration with Prof. Peter Leiner (Professor of trumpet and chamber music in Saarbrücken and member of the Das Rennquintett ensemble) and Prof. Michel Becquet (Professor of trombone and chamber music in Lyon, France), as well as participation in workshops with brass ensembles such as Canadian Brass, German Brass or Mnozil Brass. The five musicians were also scholarship holders of the LIVE MUSIC NOW foundation founded by Yehudi Menuhin in Frankfurt am Main for several years.
BRASSerie doesn’t stop at any style and brings movement to the stage with lively interludes. The quintet plays original works and their own arrangements from baroque to pop. Breakneck arrangements of virtuoso pieces, well-known melodies interpreted loudly and calm, sensitive moments – these are the specialties of the BRAS series.
Several members of the BRAS series hold leading positions in well-known German orchestras.
